Meg Handler brings a love of Vermont’s natural beauty and her experience as an attorney and mediator to her passion for real estate.

Meg is hard working, persistent and skilled at finding solutions. Because the practice of real estate involves so much work with contracts and legal issues, Meg’s clients find her legal background and training as a mediator very helpful. “My particular strength is in contracts and negotiations,” she notes. “Realtors at their best are facilitators and problem solvers.”

After growing up in Connecticut, Meg earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale College, worked as a legal assistant for Digital Equipment Corporation, based outside of Boston, and then went on to earn a law degree from Columbia University’s School of Law. She worked in New York City at the high-profile Wall Street law firm Sullivan & Cromwell. While in New York, Meg took on pro bono work for the Natural Resources Defense Council, a non-profit named as one of the country’s best 100 charities. During this time, she developed a strong belief in preserving the environment.

Meg continues to sustain this commitment to the environment and remains dedicated to helping preserve Vermont’s natural beauty and rural character for future generations. She is an active member of the Hinesburg Conservation Commission and sits on the Board of Hinesburg Land Trust. Meg is also a strong supporter of the Vermont Land Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving land for the future of Vermont. Along with her partner, Betsy Forrester, Meg donates 10% of her income every year to the Vermont Land Trust.

Many years ago, after living in Denver, Colorado for several years, Meg and her family fell in love with rural Vermont. Meg’s husband found a position at the University of Vermont Medical Center, and Meg found an opportunity to pursue her passion for equestrian sports. As a horse owner, Meg is qualified to evaluate horse properties. She remains an avid horse enthusiast, active within the Vermont horse community.

It was this devotion to Vermont which led Meg to become a licensed Realtor in 2007. Meg chose to work at Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty because of the quality of the firm’s employees and the degree of support it offers to agents. After several years, Meg recruited Betsy Forrester to join CBHB as a Realtor and her business partner.

Meg works with both buyers and sellers, from starter homes to luxury properties in Chittenden, Addison, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille and Washington counties. She has raised a family, first in Burlington, then in Williston, and now in her current home town of Hinesburg. This experience has made her well versed in Vermont’s schools and neighborhoods. Meg completed mediation training through the National Association of Realtors and now practices mediation as well.

Her dedication to clients earned Meg recognition in her first year of practice. She was named “Rookie of The Year” by the Northwestern Vermont Board of Realtors. She continues to be recognized as a consistent Top Producer by Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty.
